Many monasteries, notably the Namgyal Monastery which is the personal monastery of Dalai Lama, make it significant from a religious perspective. The fusion of Indo-Tibetan culture lends a beautiful glory to the place.

The ideal time to visit Dharamshala is from March to June when the weather is pleasant with clear, blue skies and wonderful ambiance. Lush green landscapes and astonishing vistas of the region can also be enjoyed from September to November. So, Dharamshala has a lot to offer with its nature, culture and spirituality.

    How to reach Dharamshala from Delhi?

    The fastest and most convenient mode of transport from Delhi to Dharamshala is by flight. You can fly to Kangra Airport, also called Gaggal Airport. It is situated about 15 km from Dharamshala and a flight from Delhi would take about 1.5 hours. This will be followed by a 30 minutes drive to Dharamshala.

    There are no direct trains from Delhi to Dharamshala and the nearest railway station, situated nearly 85 km away is Pathankot. It is a 8 to 10 hour train ride to Pathankot and then you can hail a taxi or a bus to Dharamshala. It would take nearly 3 hours.

    Multitude of buses run from Delhi directly to Dharamshala and cover the journey in nearly 12 hours. The buses depart from ISBT Kashmere Gate or Majnu Ka Tilla in Delhi.
