Along with the Vaishno Devi temple, which is in a cave with three rock manifestations of the deity, devotees also pay a mandatory visit to Bhairo Baba Temple. Also known as Bhairo Nath Temple, it is a further one hour trek from Vaishno Devi Temple. It is believed that the yatra is incomplete without visiting the Bhairo Nath temple.
The temple remains open throughout the year and an intense count of devotees visit the temple at all times of the year. However, devotees choose to pay a visit especially around festivities like Navratri and Dussehra.
In order to reach Shri Vaishno Devi temple, the journey can be taken towards Jammu. The nearest airport is the Jammu airport, which is 50 kms from Katra and the nearest train station is the Udhampur Railway Station. Buses from Delhi’s Anand Vihar or Kashmiri Gate ISBT can be taken for Katra directly. In other two cases, private taxis or buses can be taken from Jammu to Katra, the base camp from where the trek for the temple starts.

The temple is believed to be the abode of Ma Vaishno where she hid herself for months after being chased by Bhairav Nath. It is where she beheaded him and manifested herself in the form of three pindies which can be witnessed till date in the temple.
The daily rituals performed at the temple are meticulous and significant. These include special aartis in the morning as well as evening, where devotees can witness the aarti darshan.
Photography is strictly prohibited inside the temple. However, one can do so throughout the long trek journey but inside the temple only live darshan is allowed.
During the Vaishno Devi yatra, one can visit the Bhairav Nath temple and the Ardhkuwari temple. One can also go on to explore Jammu as well as the base camp of Katra. Jammu offers a lot of places for tourist attraction.
